Description
ORT (People of Remarkable Talents) is a unit under Kampung Karyawan Amanjaya Sdn Bhd (a company under the Perak State Government) which was established to make the art more accessible to the public by always making programs related to arts and culture whether local or international. . PORT serves as an organization that provides opportunities especially to young people born in Perak to develop their talents in the field of creative arts and culture. There are various programs and initiatives that have been organized by PORT, among them are Perak@PORT Creative Fund, Theater Project, Silver Trail of Arts, Research and Techiniques (START), Ipoh Music Symposium (IMS), Ipoh International Art Festival (IIAF) and others -lain. PORT also set up a BLACKHOUSE which is used to hold and house artist residences, exhibitions, workshops, performing arts, PORT Distro (selling merchandise items from various art communities in the state of Perak) and music recording studio rooms.

Kota Kinabalu in Sabah has always been on my list of places to travel to. So, when the opportunity to visit the city during a work trip came along, I was more than happy to volunteer.

Mural art trail crosses city

IPOH: PERAK has unveiled the “Ipoh Mural Art” trail map which showcases the artworks in seven locations in the city here. This two hour-long trail will cover places from Jalan Tun Sambanthan to Jalan Bandar Timah-Jalan Panglima-Jalan Bijeh Timah-Jalan Market and Jalan Sultan Iskandar, before ending at Jalan Masjid. Most of the mural arts are drawn by local artists Eric Lai, Bryan Tan, Chris Chow and Mohd Najib Zainudin. Even the famed Ernest Zacharevic from Lithuania had contributed his efforts in creating a mural piece for Ipoh.
