Local Hot Rod

Year

2023

Description
The piece is a demo for the competition event. This piece is highlighting the artist signature character a “tiki” riding a local “sampan” he installed a hot rod engine as a funny and cultural mash up between western and local culture. As sampan for the locals are the one most important transport for work and lifestyle and always the fastest to get around and the most common you will around and of course the most customed. Either by appearence or performance. Very much like the hot rod culture in the west.

Kota Kinabalu in Sabah has always been on my list of places to travel to. So, when the opportunity to visit the city during a work trip came along, I was more than happy to volunteer.

December 16, 2014 @ 8:18am By Diana Yeoh

IPOH: PERAK has unveiled the “Ipoh Mural Art” trail map which showcases the artworks in seven locations in the city here. This two hour-long trail will cover places from Jalan Tun Sambanthan to Jalan Bandar Timah-Jalan Panglima-Jalan Bijeh Timah-Jalan Market and Jalan Sultan Iskandar, before ending at Jalan Masjid. Most of the mural arts are drawn by local artists Eric Lai, Bryan Tan, Chris Chow and Mohd Najib Zainudin. Even the famed Ernest Zacharevic from Lithuania had contributed his efforts in creating a mural piece for Ipoh.
